Tha ish: My love life update

I can’t believe it’s been over 2 months since I’ve updated tha ish. I am the laziest blogger ever! Seriously, that’s not cool. Sorry!

In my defence, I have been gathering information to update you on my love life. Unfortunately, not all my experiences have been good (psst...why is it that the wrong men like me?! And why is it that the guys that I like don’t notice me ?), so I’ve decided to write this post as if I am filling out one of those online dating questionnaires, just so you (ahem, eligible men) can find out my likes, dislikes, turns and turn offs.

So this is me in a nutshell.

1. Who are you attracted to? Someone who can make me laugh, likes to have fun and has lots of passion.

2. What's your favourite thing to do on a date? The best date ever was when my “then boyfriend” and I walked all over Toronto for a few hours, had drinks and made out on a subway train.

3. What do you like to do with your friends? We usually go for dinner and drinks, but I have more fun when we do other things like see a play, go to a festival, or chill in a cafe/lounge.

4. Fave romantic movie? Love Jones and Francis Ford Coppola’s Dracula (I have a serious crush on Gary Oldman),

5. If you could live anywhere in the world for a year, where would you go? Somewhere in Europe- Italy, Spain, France....

6. What's the most interesting place you've ever visited? France

7. What do you think is the biggest mistake people make on a first date? When they try to be someone that they’re not. Hate liars!

8. What character on Sex and the City are you most like? Definitely Carrie.

9. If you weren’t in the profession you are currently in, what would be your other dream profession and why? I would loooove to be a DJ. I love how they are able to move a crowd with music.

10. Your first crush – what drew you to him? Bradley. I was around 8 yrs old and I thought he was the cutest boy in the neighbourhood. He had a bad boy swagger, even at 10 years old! He taught me how to ride a bike and attempted to show me how to skate board.

11. What is your favourite flavour of ice cream, your favourite junk food and your favourite dessert? Mint chocolate chip, chocolate, and brownies with ice cream. I love chocolate, can you tell?

12. What is the sexiest body part on a man and why? I love a strong back for obvious reasons! Kidding! Actually, I love caressing his entire body, but I usually concentrate on his chest. A close second would be his goatee (or stubble). I can’t help but stroke it.

13. What is your fave song to make out to? There are tons of songs that get me hot and bothered, but I love Usher’s Trading Places. Very hot!

14. What makes you feel your sexiest? When I feel good and look better! I usually feel sexy when I’m wearing a dress.

15. What turns you on? I love it when a guy kisses me on my neck. That’s my weak spot!

16. What turns you off? When a guy I like (and he likes me too), is too shy to make a move. Make a move dammit!

17. Do you wear lingerie? Yes. I love lacy bras, panties and thongs.

18. What’s the sexiest thing a guy has ever done for you? My boyfriend at the time told me to call in sick at work so that we could spend the entire day together. I did and we enjoyed each other’s company for the entire day!

19. Are you into “public displays of affection”? Definitely. If the mood hits me, I have nooo problem letting my man know I want him then and there!

20. How important is sex to you? It’s very important and healthy. I like to satisfy and be satisfied!

21. Have you ever had phone sex? Yes

22. Are you down with one night stands? Nope

23. What is the single feature people compliment you on the most? I’ve been complimented on my smile and my “girls”.

24. What is your biggest fear, except for spiders? Not being fulfilled.

25. What are the 3 most important things in your life? Health, happiness and friends and family

Tha ish: my love life???

True story, my love life ain't tha ish...but I’m hoping it will be! : )

For some bizarre reason my love life is the concern of all my friends (and co-workers)......and even strangers. On a daily basis someone is asking me if I am dating anyone, why I am single, or.....my fave—Can I fix you up with my friend?

Although I am flattered by the preoccupation with the goings on of my pretty pathetic private life, all of this dating talk has made me think, “I really need to start dating....like yesterday!” Not because everyone is up in my business and I feel weird to still be single.  But contrary to what my harsh exterior will allow you to believe (BTW, I’m really a sweet girl!) I am looking for that special someone. Someone to spend quality time with, someone to laugh at my stupid yet funny jokes, and of course, someone to get hot and sweaty with me (y’all know what I’m talking about!).

So I plan to have fun this summer and meet as many people as possible. I want to open myself up and not be sooo scared and shy. I like(d) being "single girl", but part of me misses being with someone and doing the stupid couple-y things that couples do. So wish me luck on my journey to find a good man. Who knows where I will find my new boo!

Tha ish: Kelly Rowland- Motivation

Sorry Bey, but I’m definitely feelin’ ex-Destiny Child Kelly Rowland’s sexy new song, “Motivation” rather than your song, Run The World. Kelly’s song is seductive, erotic and pretty much sums up my mood right now.

tha ish: My b-day

Okay, not to sound completely self- absorbed, but it was my b-day over the weekend and I completely enjoyed myself. It started on Friday when I took a much needed day off from work. It was absolute heaven being able to sleep in and not have to worry about e-mails, phone calls etc. I got to savour my sweet, sweet slumber.

On Saturday night I went out for dinner and drinks with my bestie. We didn’t have our celebratory chicken and waffles, but we still had a great time.

On Sunday, I took it easy as I had to nurse a hangover-joke! It was Mother’s Day, so I had to treat my mom like the diva she is!

On Monday (today) I was totally surprised to find out that my co-workers decorated my office with balloons and streamers during my lunch hour. Sweet, eh?

Yes, I was treated like a princess for a couple of days. And I loved every minute of it.

Thanks for everything, guys!

Tha ish: Crystal Waters

I know you’re saying to yourself, “Crystal who??”, but this one-hit wonder (actually she’s more of a 2-hit wonder) has inexplicably been the subject of many a conversation I’ve had with my ridiculously fun co-worker, F.M.

Don’t ask me why we talk about her, or even why her name initially came up, but for some reason we will mention (and sing!) her biggest hit, Gypsy Woman, and laugh and laugh, and laugh. Yep, we know we need to grow up!

The funny thing is that F. M. and I don’t even share the same musical tastes (I like r&b and hip hop and he likes...well, not sure what you call it!), but we do remember the annoyingly fun club anthem circa 1991.

Check out her video here and the hilarious In Living Color parody here.

p.s. I was not intoxicated when I wrote this entry! LOL

Tha ish: Valentine's Day Playlist

I’m not really into Valentine’s Day (could be that I’m single and haven’t celebrated the day in ages!), but I do love me some slow jams. The best slow jam/ baby making cd I ever got was from an ex, and I have yet to throw it out. He chose sensual songs that were playful, romantic and basically got me in the mood for some lovin’! LOL

Since I’m a single chick, I haven’t created a mixed CD for anyone in ages, buuuuut, if I were going to have a hot and steamy night tonight (or any night for that matter), I would have to include these songs on the CD

The Valentine’s Day Mix

No Air- Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown
Hate That I Love You-Rihanna feat.Ne-yo
Trading Places- Usher
You Don't Know My Name- Alicia Keys
Lollipop- Lil Wayne- no explanation needed for this song ; )

p.s. I can't forget the old skool classic, You're All I Need- Mary J. Blige feat. Method Man

Tha ish: Alan Schwarz

A few months ago a got an e-mail from my ex boss—Alan Schwarz, (he has since become a good friend of mine) and he told me that he recently published an e-book. I was excited for him, but knew he was quite capable of writing a book because he is very creative and talented, and he is constantly working on his craft.

Not only is he super talented, he is also very generous. He was VERY instrumental with helping me make my way into the world of writing and showed me how to properly promote myself like crazy! But what I really loved and appreciated is that he assured me that I was a talented writer and that I should definitely pursue it as a career. Thanks, Alan!!!

Okay, back to my blog entry, when I used to work with Alan, for some reason we always started the workday talking about our love lives. At the time I was dating someone, but the relationship was filled with drama and turmoil, so I always had lots to say. After I spoke about my “issues with my man” Alan would tell me about some of the crazy dates that he went on.

Honestly, I was kinda amazed that someone could have so many odd dates! I listened and then laughed hysterically over his misery. Sorry, Alan.

But looks like his painful dates paid off for him. My former boss has compiled all of his outrageous dates and published the e-book, “49 Memorable Dates That I Could Not Forget, Even If I Wanted To.” That’s so genius!

All of Alan’s bizarre dates are documented in his e-book ready to be shared with the world.

Congrats, Alan!

Tha ish: Oyin Handmade leave in conditioner- Greg Juice

I haven’t written about anything hair related since my little experiment in late August 2010, so I thought I would satisfy my hair obsession by mentioning a product that I’ve been using for the past 4 months that has literally answered my prayers!

Oyin Handmade Greg Juice

I bought this spray a while ago because I was getting seriously frustrated with the way that my hair looked and felt. In the summer it felt brittle and looked extremely dry. I used a bunch of products to alleviate this problem, but nothing seemed to work.

I visited the Honeyfig website and took a look at the products that they carry, as well as visiting the curlynikki site to see what other naturals were using.

I had a lot to choose from, but I decided on buying Greg Juice herbal leave in conditioner as I wear my hair in twists (with the aid of extensions-okay, I’m pseudo-natural!).  It states on the packaging that the product works well with anyone that wears their hair in locs , braids or twists, so I thought to give it a shot since nothing else I bought worked.

I wanted to write about this product when I first purchased it, but I had to wait to see how my hair reacted to it. Well...my hair loves it! My dry hair (and scalp) looks and feels a million times better. It honestly feels like a nice tall glass of water for my thirsty hair.

The spray is an oil-free mixture of vegetable moisturizers and herbal essences. The spray has a slight citrus smell, but the fragrance is practically undetectable when I spray on my scalp-which I don’t mind.

I am sooo happy that I bought this product. Although I wear it in a protective style, I want to keep my hair hydrated and moisturized, and thanks to Oyin Handmade it is!
