Tha ish: my love life???

True story, my love life ain't tha ish...but I’m hoping it will be! : )

For some bizarre reason my love life is the concern of all my friends (and co-workers)......and even strangers. On a daily basis someone is asking me if I am dating anyone, why I am single, or.....my fave—Can I fix you up with my friend?

Although I am flattered by the preoccupation with the goings on of my pretty pathetic private life, all of this dating talk has made me think, “I really need to start dating....like yesterday!” Not because everyone is up in my business and I feel weird to still be single.  But contrary to what my harsh exterior will allow you to believe (BTW, I’m really a sweet girl!) I am looking for that special someone. Someone to spend quality time with, someone to laugh at my stupid yet funny jokes, and of course, someone to get hot and sweaty with me (y’all know what I’m talking about!).

So I plan to have fun this summer and meet as many people as possible. I want to open myself up and not be sooo scared and shy. I like(d) being "single girl", but part of me misses being with someone and doing the stupid couple-y things that couples do. So wish me luck on my journey to find a good man. Who knows where I will find my new boo!

Tha ish: Alan Schwarz

A few months ago a got an e-mail from my ex boss—Alan Schwarz, (he has since become a good friend of mine) and he told me that he recently published an e-book. I was excited for him, but knew he was quite capable of writing a book because he is very creative and talented, and he is constantly working on his craft.

Not only is he super talented, he is also very generous. He was VERY instrumental with helping me make my way into the world of writing and showed me how to properly promote myself like crazy! But what I really loved and appreciated is that he assured me that I was a talented writer and that I should definitely pursue it as a career. Thanks, Alan!!!

Okay, back to my blog entry, when I used to work with Alan, for some reason we always started the workday talking about our love lives. At the time I was dating someone, but the relationship was filled with drama and turmoil, so I always had lots to say. After I spoke about my “issues with my man” Alan would tell me about some of the crazy dates that he went on.

Honestly, I was kinda amazed that someone could have so many odd dates! I listened and then laughed hysterically over his misery. Sorry, Alan.

But looks like his painful dates paid off for him. My former boss has compiled all of his outrageous dates and published the e-book, “49 Memorable Dates That I Could Not Forget, Even If I Wanted To.” That’s so genius!

All of Alan’s bizarre dates are documented in his e-book ready to be shared with the world.

Congrats, Alan!

Tha ish: Roger

Roger is an old friend’s little brother. However..... Roger is not that little anymore! He has grown up to be a handsome, intelligent young man. Okay, the fact that he is handsome is not really important, but I thought to add that to my post! LOL

Anyways, for some reason every time that I bump into Roger, he unintentionally imparts some wisdom on me and gives me some great advice.

About 10 years I bumped into him on the bus and we started talking. He asked if I was still writing and I sadly told him that I was struggling with a bad case of writer’s block, so my writing was put on the back burner. He talked to me for a bit and made me feel better. After our conversation, I felt confident to finish writing what I was working on.

One year ago I bumped into Roger at a neighbourhood grocery store. He asked what I was up to and we got on the conversation of dating. We complained to each other about how hard it was dating now that we’ve gotten older. Again, he gave me some advice.

Yesterday I met him again in the same grocery store and we got to talking. I told him that I took his dating advice (pssst....almost a full year after he gave it to me!) but I was getting a little despondent. Again, he told me to be patient and that it takes some time to find the right person.

I thought to dedicate this post to Roger because he always seems to wander into my life when I need to talk to someone or need some advice. He gives great advice (I love the male point of view), and he pulls no punches.

Thanks for the chat, Roger!

Tha ish: I’m such a cougar!

Well, the title of this entry doesn’t really need that much explanation. I’ve simply been feeling a little cougarish lately! Please don’t think of me as one of those over-sexed middle-aged women who wear inappropriately young clothing, apply tons of makeup, and exclusively date younger guys. I’m older, but I’m not OLD and I’m definitely not tacky. I like to call myself grown & sexy. Okay, now that I got that out of the way, I should tell you what inspired this post.

For the past couple of weeks I’ve been noticing a plethora of young, strapping lads. (I’m thinking it’s because I’m single and haven’t been on a date since FOREVER.) These strapping young lads are over 20 years old and definitely under 25 years old. Hence my cougarish feelings.

I’ve actually dated a younger guy in the past, so cougar-dom ain’t that new to me, but I never thought that I would go down that road again.

Until this extremely tall, athletic looking specimen approached me a couple of days ago and said “How you doin’, miss?” in a cute hip hop way. True, he was probably being polite and in no way hitting on me, but I will say that the he got me thinking about visiting cougarville again. Maybe not on a long-term basis, but I’m definitely ready for a pit stop!
